B\u00e1sicamente, es un proyecto que mezcla tanto electro al estilo de Justice con atm\u00f3sferas y universos terror\u00edficos inspirados principalmente en John Carpenter. Soy el \u00fanico compositor del grupo, aunque me acompa\u00f1an en el escenario un guitarrista y un baterista.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Acabas de lanzar una nueva obra, el segundo episodio de una trilog\u00eda: Leather Terror. \u00bfQu\u00e9 representa este \u00e1lbum? \u00bfC\u00f3mo es exactamente la continuidad con Leather Teeth, lanzado en 2018? \u00bfEn qu\u00e9 se diferencian?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Se diferencian sobre todo por el tiempo que tuve para componerlos. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leather Teeth<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> se compuso en seis meses, en comparaci\u00f3n con los dieciocho meses que me llev\u00f3 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leather Terror<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Cuenta con cuatro canciones m\u00e1s, cambia mucho la consistencia y la coherencia del \u00e1lbum. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leather Terror <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">es un trabajo m\u00e1s maduro y mucho mejor realizado. Tanto <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leather Teeth <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">como <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leather Terror <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">son dos historias diferentes, por lo que sus atm\u00f3sferas ten\u00edan que ser diferentes: en <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leather Teeth<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> present\u00e9 a los diferentes personajes de mi historia, incluido el personaje principal, Bret Halford, el geek fan\u00e1tico de la qu\u00edmica, aficionado al glam rock y enamorado en secreto de Kendra, la animadora del instituto que est\u00e1 enamorada de Chip, el popular mariscal de campo. Mientras que en <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leather Terror<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> la historia tiene lugar cuatro a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s; en \u00e9l Bret Halford se ha convertido en una estrella de rock lista para vengarse de los alumnos de secundaria que lo intimidaron. El \u00e1lbum ten\u00eda que ser entonces m\u00e1s maduro, oscuro y agresivo que el anterior. Por lo que la evoluci\u00f3n musical sigue a la del personaje y su historia. Tambi\u00e9n sigue la evoluci\u00f3n musical que se dio entre 1987, fecha de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leather Teeth<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y 1991, fecha en la que transcurre la historia de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leather Terror<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Trat\u00e9 de apegarme un poco a este per\u00edodo. De hecho, ambos \u00e1lbumes son como Bret Halford, quien pas\u00f3 de ser un ni\u00f1o de secundaria despreocupado a un adulto decidido.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Sus \u00e1lbumes cuentan la historia de Bret Halford. \u00bfQui\u00e9n o qu\u00e9 inspir\u00f3 esta historia? \u00bfC\u00f3mo contin\u00faa el segundo \u00e1lbum esta narrativa? \u00bfQu\u00e9 personalidad adopta Bret Halford ahora?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bret Halford y su historia nacieron \u00fanicamente de mi imaginaci\u00f3n. Cuando era adolescente vi muchas pel\u00edculas slasher, as\u00ed que esta es mi forma de rendir homenaje al g\u00e9nero. Bret Halford es una mezcla de Bret Michaels de Poison y Rob Halford de Judas Priest: tambi\u00e9n quer\u00eda rendirle homenaje al metal y al glam rock. Como dec\u00eda antes, Bret Halford quiere vengarse de quienes lo humillaron en la secundaria. Habi\u00e9ndose convertido en una estrella del glam rock, es famoso y adorado por todos aunque no se olvida de quienes lo acosaron. El esp\u00edritu de Bret Halford es vengativo y sangriento, o al menos as\u00ed lo siente \u00e9l en su cabeza: es un escenario de pel\u00edcula slasher totalmente clich\u00e9 al estilo Viernes 13 o Halloween.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>\u00bfFue un proceso largo el crear su nuevo \u00e1lbum?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aprovech\u00e9 que le hab\u00eda dicho a mi booker que no quer\u00eda hacer una gira en 2020 para centrarme en mi pr\u00f3ximo \u00e1lbum. Y al final la pandemia de Covid-19 hizo que todos se qued\u00e1ramos en casa. Adem\u00e1s, aprovech\u00e9 para preguntarle a diversos m\u00fasicos y cantantes que aprecio si quer\u00edan colaborar conmigo en este trabajo. Me tom\u00f3 un a\u00f1o y medio componerlo. Me tom\u00e9 mi tiempo, explor\u00e9 nuevos sonidos. Fue un per\u00edodo bastante prol\u00edfico porque ten\u00eda mucho tiempo para m\u00ed y mi m\u00fasica.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Para este \u00e1lbum trabajaste con gente muy diferente. La canci\u00f3n \u201cImaginary Fire\u201d fue creada junto a Greg Puciato. \u00bfC\u00f3mo fue su colaboraci\u00f3n? \u00bfQu\u00e9 te aport\u00f3<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Compuse la m\u00fasica y le pregunt\u00e9 a Greg si estaba dispuesto a cantar en ella. De hecho, en un principio la canci\u00f3n iba a ser cantada por Chino Moreno aunque al final, por cuestiones de tiempo y motivaci\u00f3n no pudo. As\u00ed que le pregunt\u00e9 a Ben Koller, el baterista de Converge, qui\u00e9n pensaba que podr\u00eda cantar en la pista: respondi\u00f3 Greg Puciato y me puso en contacto con \u00e9l. A Greg le gust\u00f3 la pista y r\u00e1pidamente me ofreci\u00f3 una mejor letra, por lo que todo sali\u00f3 bien. Mientras compon\u00eda durante la pandemia, muchas bandas y artistas estaban atrapados en casa y, por lo tanto, disponibles. As\u00ed que aprovech\u00e9 para contactarme con muchos de ellos. Me gustan las canciones efectivas, el formato del pop y las voces tambi\u00e9n son un plus. A las piezas instrumentales me gusta hacerlas durar, darles el tiempo necesario para desarrollarlas. Son dos enfoques diferentes. Quer\u00eda hacer ambas cosas para este \u00e1lbum y por eso hay seis canciones con voces y seis instrumentales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><b>Para el videoclip de \u201cThe Widow Maker\u201d colaboraste con el actor Dylan Sprouse. \u00bfC\u00f3mo funcion\u00f3 la uni\u00f3n\u00a0de las artes del cine y la m\u00fasica?<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dylan y yo nos conocemos desde hace tres a\u00f1os. Sab\u00eda que me segu\u00eda en las redes sociales y que le gusta mi m\u00fasica. Y un d\u00eda recib\u00ed un mail de su agente en el que me ped\u00eda mi direcci\u00f3n porque quer\u00eda enviarme un c\u00f3mic para el que hab\u00eda escrito el gui\u00f3n (Sun Eater). Cuando lo recib\u00ed tambi\u00e9n me lleg\u00f3 una linda nota en la que dec\u00eda que mi m\u00fasica lo hab\u00eda acompa\u00f1ado en el proceso de escritura. Por lo que nos pusimos en contacto y, con el tiempo, supuse que \u00e9l interpretar\u00eda perfectamente a Bret Halford. Habl\u00e9 con \u00e9l al respecto y acept\u00f3 de inmediato.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Planeas una gira mundial para el oto\u00f1o: \u00bfc\u00f3mo se siente volver despu\u00e9s de dos a\u00f1os de pandemia?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Va a ser raro volver a la ruta para hacer miles de kil\u00f3metros en poco tiempo. Hay mucho estr\u00e9s, no solo en la preparaci\u00f3n de los conciertos sino tambi\u00e9n porque la pandemia a\u00fan no termin\u00f3 y tendremos que estar con la guardia alta para no enfermarnos, porque eso significar\u00eda tener que cancelar varias fechas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Aparte de la gira, \u00bfqu\u00e9 otros proyectos tienes planeados?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De momento me centro al cien por cien en los conciertos. Me gusta concentrarme en una cosa a la vez para hacerla bien.
