Sur l&rsquo;album, enregistr\u00e9 \u00e0 Stockholm et \u00e0 Paris, la chanteuse, qui vendait de l&rsquo;eau dans les rues de Bamako, marche sur une fine ligne entre la musique traditionnelle de sa r\u00e9gion natale, le Wassoulou au Mali, et un d\u00e9racinement induit par la technologie. Ainsi, Oumou Sangar\u00e9 s&rsquo;est soudainement retrouv\u00e9e catapult\u00e9e dans une nouvelle dimension de la culture pop. L&rsquo;artiste congolais <strong>JP Mika<\/strong> l&rsquo;a peinte pour la pochette de l&rsquo;album, des remixes de Sampha, St Germain, Malik Djoudi et d&rsquo;autres ont suivi pour l&rsquo;album Mogoya Remixed et<strong> Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong> l&rsquo;a sampl\u00e9e pour la chanson \u00ab\u00a0<strong>MOOD 4 EVA<\/strong>\u00ab\u00a0. Oumou Sangar\u00e9 n&rsquo;a jamais sembl\u00e9 \u00eatre plus \u00e9loign\u00e9e de son pays d&rsquo;origine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Le 19 juin dernier<\/strong>, elle a sorti son nouvel album <strong><em>Acoustic<\/em><\/strong>. Comment allez-vous ? Comment vivez- vous le confinement ? <\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tout va bien ! Je suis confin\u00e9 \u00e0 New York. J&rsquo;y suis all\u00e9 avec une partie de ma famille pour les vacances, et nous nous sommes retrouv\u00e9s bloqu\u00e9s avec la pand\u00e9mie de la COVID-19. Cela m&rsquo;a permis de me reposer enfin, apr\u00e8s une longue tourn\u00e9e, l&rsquo;organisation de mon festival \u00ab\u00a0FIWA\u00a0\u00bb au Mali et la gestion de mes businesses en dehors de la musique. Je me suis rendu compte aussi que la vie de famille m&rsquo;avait manqu\u00e9. Apr\u00e8s 30 ann\u00e9es \u00e0 parcourir le monde, j&rsquo;ai pu faire une vraie pause. Profitez de mes petits-enfants, jouer avec eux, cuisiner et passer plus de temps avec mes proches.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Le 19 juin est sorti votre nouvel album Acoustic qui, comme son nom l\u2019indique, reprend (\u00e0 deux exceptions pr\u00e8s) en acoustique les titres de Mogoya sorti en 2017. L\u2019enregistrement s\u2019est fait en une prise, sans amplification, sans casque, dans des conditions \u201clive\u201d. Etait-ce un d\u00e9fi facile \u00e0 relever ? Qu\u2019en retenez-vous ? Pensez-vous r\u00e9it\u00e9rer l\u2019exp\u00e9rience un jour ?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Oui c&rsquo;est mon premier album totalement acoustique mais cela n&rsquo;a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 difficile \u00e0 faire. Nous avons enregistr\u00e9 l&rsquo;album en deux jours, avec des musicien.n.es que je connais tr\u00e8s bien (mes choristes<strong> Emma Lamadji et Kandy Guira, Benogo<\/strong> au kamele ngoni, <strong>Guimba Kouyat\u00e9<\/strong> \u00e0 la guitare, <strong>Vincent Taurelle<\/strong> du collectif A.L.B.E.R.T, au celesta et \u00e0 l&rsquo;orgue jouet). Il y avait une ambiance tr\u00e8s intime qui permettait de \u00ab\u00a0se l\u00e2cher\u00a0\u00bb et de jouer une musique spontan\u00e9e. Un genre de musique de chambre entre ami.e.s. Cette approche acoustique m&rsquo;a replong\u00e9e dans mon enfance lorsque je chantais dans la rue ou quand j&rsquo;accompagnais ma m\u00e8re dans des c\u00e9r\u00e9monies de mariage ou bapt\u00eame. Ma voix est au naturel, sans artifices. Je vais revivre cette exp\u00e9rience \u00ab\u00a0unplugged\u00a0\u00bb lors de mes prochains concerts.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Vous avez d\u00e9voil\u00e9 un premier extrait d\u2019Acoustic: \u201cDjoukourou\u201d. Pouvez &#8211; vous nous en dire un peu plus sur ce morceau? Pourquoi l\u2019avoir choisi pour promouvoir ce nouvel album\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Djoukourou signifie \u00ab\u00a0soutien\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0protection\u00a0\u00bb. Il n&rsquo;y a rien de mieux que d&rsquo;avoir une personne de confiance sur qui s&rsquo;appuyer dans la vie. Un chef d&rsquo;\u00c9tat n&rsquo;est rien sans le soutien de son peuple, un.e chanteur.se n&rsquo;est rien sans de bon.ne.s musicien.nes. Je dis souvent avec humour que nous devons avoir une personne qui surveille \u00ab\u00a0notre derri\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb. C&rsquo;est un titre que mon public adore sur sc\u00e8ne, il chante et danse avec nous. Revenir avec ce titre, c&rsquo;\u00e9tait une mani\u00e8re de mettre du baume au coeur, ma fa\u00e7on de r\u00e9conforter ceux en peine et en lutte dans cette p\u00e9riode difficile.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Pourquoi avez-vous eu envie de revisiter \u201cDiaraby Nene\u201d et \u201cSaa Magni\u201d, titres qui vous suivent depuis de nombreuses ann\u00e9es et qui ne figurent pas sur l\u2019album Mogoya ? <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>C&rsquo;est une d\u00e9cision que j&rsquo;ai prise avec mon label N\u00f8 F\u00f8rmat. Nous avons pens\u00e9 qu&rsquo;il serait bien de donner une nouvelle vie \u00e0 ces deux belles chansons importantes de mon r\u00e9pertoire. Elles m&rsquo;ont toujours suivie dans ma carri\u00e8re. Elles sont devenues des \u00ab\u00a0classiques\u00a0\u00bb en quelque sorte, adopt\u00e9s par toutes les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations. La forme acoustique permet de les sublimer, il y a plus de place pour mettre en avant le son des instruments et m\u00e9lodies du Wassoulou.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Vous parcourez les festivals depuis pr\u00e8s de 30 ans et avez mont\u00e9 le Festival International du Wassoulou (FIWA) dont la troisi\u00e8me \u00e9dition s\u2019est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e du 5 au 7 mars dernier. Est-ce que la sc\u00e8ne vous manque ? Comment appr\u00e9hendez-vous la reprise apr\u00e8s cette p\u00e9riode trouble ? <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Cette troisi\u00e8me \u00e9dition du FIWA a \u00e9t\u00e9 une r\u00e9ussite, je suis tr\u00e8s fi\u00e8re de ce projet que j&rsquo;organise dans ma r\u00e9gion natale autour de ma culture. J&rsquo;aime beaucoup la sc\u00e8ne, cela me permet de partager ma culture, mes traditions et ma musique. Comme beaucoup d&rsquo;artistes, j&rsquo;ai d\u00fb d\u00e9caler ma tourn\u00e9e mais je reste patiente et ne me plains pas. L&rsquo;urgence est la sant\u00e9 de toute et tous. Je suis tout de m\u00eame\u00a0 impatiente de retrouver le reste de ma famille au Mali.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u00c0 la crise sanitaire s\u2019est ajout\u00e9e, depuis quelques semaines, une crise sociale profonde qui bouleverse le monde entier. Vous qui \u00eates connue -et reconnue- pour votre engagement, quel regard portez-vous sur la jeunesse d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui ?<br \/>\n<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>J&rsquo;ai une pleine confiance en la jeunesse, c&rsquo;est elle qui fait bouger les lignes et bouscule nos mentalit\u00e9s. Lorsque j&rsquo;ai sorti mon album <em>Moussolou,<\/em> c&rsquo;est la jeunesse malienne qui m&rsquo;a soutenue en premier. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 conservatrice n&rsquo;a pas du tout aim\u00e9 mes paroles et m&rsquo;a trait\u00e9 de tous les noms. J&rsquo;abordais des sujets trop tabous. Avec le temps, mes chansons ont fini par \u00eatre accept\u00e9es.
