La chanteuse de reggae roots fran\u00e7aise, Mo\u2019Kalamity, est enfin de retour avec son nouvel album, baptis\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Shine\u00a0\u00bb, disponible depuis le 1er<\/sup> mars dernier sur son propre label Sofia Thea Records.<\/p>\n

Originaire de Santiago (Cap-Vert), Monica Tavares arrive en France \u00e0 l’\u00e2ge de cinq ans et demi lorsque ses parents d\u00e9cident de quitter l’\u00eele pour rechercher de meilleures conditions de vie. La future chanteuse grandit en r\u00e9gion parisienne et d\u00e9couvre \u00e0 l’adolescence diff\u00e9rents genres musicaux dont la soul, le gospel, le blues et le jazz. Elle choisit finalement le reggae et commence sa carri\u00e8re comme choriste pour l’artiste reggae King Malik, avant de se lancer en solo d\u00e8s 2002. Deux ans plus tard, le groupe The Wizards est form\u00e9 et le premier album de Mo’Kalamity, intitul\u00e9 Warriors of light<\/em>, voit le jour en 2006, suivi trois ans apr\u00e8s par l\u2019opus Deeper Revolution<\/em>. En 2010, elle est nomm\u00e9e dans trois cat\u00e9gories lors de la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie annuelle des Cabo Verde Awards. En 2013, l\u2019artiste sort l’album Freedom Of The Soul,<\/em> quatre ans plus tard, Mo\u2019Kalamity s\u2019envole pour la Jama\u00efque o\u00f9 elle enregistre \u00e0 Kingston le disque One Love Vibration<\/em>, sur lequel elle collabore avec les mythiques musiciens locaux Sly & Robbie. L\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante, elle apparait sur un single intitul\u00e9 \u00ab Le Pouvoir \u00bb en duo avec le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre chanteur ivoirien Tiken Jah Fakoly, puis elle livre le morceau \u00ab Diom Gnakou Fi \u00bb avec l\u2019artiste s\u00e9n\u00e9galais Cheikh Ibra Fam en 2022, avant de sortir cette ann\u00e9e son cinqui\u00e8me album Shine.<\/em><\/p>\n

Pour What the France, Mo\u2019Kalamity a con\u00e7u une playlist exclusive regroupant quelques-uns de ses propres titres, ainsi que plusieurs coups de c\u0153ur \u00ab\u00a0made in France\u00a0\u00bb. Au programme, des morceaux interpr\u00e9t\u00e9s par Guillaume \u00ab\u00a0Stepper\u00a0\u00bb Briard & Taxi Gang, Bitty McLean, Kubix, Keith & Tex, Clinton Fearon, Big Red & DJ Absurd, Queen Omega & Lion\u2019s Flow, Mirna & Derajah, Biga*Ranx, Tiken Jah Fakoly & Winston McAnuff, Vanzo, Yaniss Odua, Johnny Osbourne, Alpha Blondy, Alam, Takana Zion, Max Romeo, Mystical Faya, Cheikh Ibra Fam, Lyricson, Tiwony & Meta Dia, Tu Shung Peng & Bongo ou Ken Boothe.<\/p>\n
