Kill The Pain | « Aussie Way of Live… »
What the France presents the third episode of the video series “Aussie Way of Live…”, dedicated to Kill The Pain.
In each episode, we invite you to take a walk with a French artist passing through Australia. The selected personalities give us an inside look into their daily life on the other side of the globe. Are you ready to join us on the “Aussie Way of Live…”?
Back on Australian soil, What the France reconnects with the duo Kill The Pain. On one side, Phoebe Killdeer, the singer-songwriter behind the international hit “The Fade Out Lines”, and on the other, Mélanie Pain, one of the voices behind the success of Nouvelle Vague. The musical chemistry they share is not new. From their very first meeting, it was clear to them that they had to join forces.
500 concerts later, Phoebe and Mélanie, looking to break free from conventions and reinvent themselves, formed Kill The Pain. A dance-funk blend inspired by retro sounds while breaking the rules, this surprising duo plays with absurdity and has fun on stage.
After releasing their debut album in 2023, Kill The Pain continues to perform around the world. With their raw energy and sense of irony, Phoebe and Mélanie take the audience on performances that are as surprising as they are captivating, where dance, joy, and spontaneity are always on the agenda.
New Collaboration: Kill The Pain meets Powersolo
In April 2025, Kill The Pain is releasing a special 7-inch and digital drop in collaboration with Danish psychobilly icon Powersolo, through Crunchy Frog Records. The record features two tracks:
-
A-side: “Le Vertige de la Fête” – a high-energy, 60s-style psychobilly yéyé number sung in French. With nods to Rita Mitsouko and dripping in glitter and chaos, this one’s a straight shot to the dancefloor.
-
B-side: “Miss L’Amour” – a slow-burning, exotica-rockabilly ballad filled with smoky allure and a pulse of romantic danger. Imagine a forgotten jukebox glowing in a neon-lit bar—this is that vibe in song form.
Kill The Pain’s chemistry with Powersolo’s Kim Kix ignited during a studio session in Aarhus, Denmark. “We saw Powersolo live and were blown away by their raw energy and wild punk attitude,” says the duo. “That electrifying experience led us straight into the studio together.”
