The CHANCE Festival is the passion project of Serge&Nina, a Franco-German pop culture agency with a non-profit mission. Since 2020, they have been organizing and producing cultural projects that build bridges between France and Germany, pop music and politics, art and society. The name of their agency speaks volumes: Serge, inspired by Serge Gainsbourg, and Nina, inspired by Nina Hagen—two musical icons who shattered conventions and crossed borders with their art. Thus, “Serge&Nina” represents the creative dialogue between two cultures: French chanson meets German punk, poetry meets pop.
At the heart of their work is the CHANCE Festival, a place for pop music, encounters, and social commentary. The program for this event, whose next edition will take place on August 29th in Düsseldorf, celebrates the diversity of French-language pop culture with live concerts, DJ sets, panel discussions, and workshops. Diversity and sustainability are not only present on stage but also form the pillars of the festival’s structure: from the fair selection of artists to climate-friendly production and accessibility. It’s about viewing culture as an opportunity for visibility, participation, and change.
In 2026, the festival will host five artists “made in France” and has therefore commissioned What the France to create a dedicated playlist featuring four tracks from each of the selected artists: Olkan & La Vipère Rouge, Mauvaise Bouche, Peet, Copycat and Asfar Shamsi.
