Benjamin Biolay | A new album and an exclusive playlist for What the France!

Singer-songwriter, musician, and producer Benjamin Biolay is one of the most influential and respected artists on the French music scene, thanks to his unique style blending pop, rock, and French chanson.

 

He burst onto the scene with the critically acclaimed album Rose Kennedy in 2001. He has since released nine other albums throughout his career. His career has earned him numerous awards, including several accolades at the Victoires de la Musique, which he has won. Since 2002, when he was named “Male Breakthrough Artist of the Year,” he has been recognized in the categories “Male Artist of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” and “Song of the Year” in 2021. His songs, often praised for their lyrical depth and musical sophistication, reinforce his reputation as one of the most credible songwriters. Benjamin Biolay is also known for his numerous collaborations with other renowned artists, which demonstrates his influence and status in the music industry, well beyond its borders. His connection with Latin America has been a constant in his work for years.

 

Le Disque Bleu is the eleventh album in Benjamin Biolay’s discography. Composed, written, and recorded in Paris, Sète, Brussels, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro, it is available since October 17 in two distinct but complementary volumes, titled Résidents for the first disc and Visiteurs for the second disc. This new opus is an invitation to travel between the two sides of the Atlantic, a journey of incredible musical richness and incredible lexical depth between France and South America.
