Danakil | A new album and an exclusive playlist !

With 24 years on the road and tens of thousands of kilometers clocked on their tour bus, Danakil has brought their music to the far corners of the world. What began as a teenage dream in the early 2000s quickly turned into a career that took them from playing for tips in underground cafés to headlining major venues across France.

The group’s chemistry clicked almost immediately, propelling them into some of the biggest concert halls across Europe, from Zéniths to major festivals, where they introduced their socially conscious roots reggae to a growing audience.

Discography Milestones

Danakil’s discography kicked off in 2006 with their debut album Microclimat, followed by Dialogue de sourds in 2008. In 2009, they released Live au Cabaret Sauvage, and over the years continued with albums such as Échos du temps (2011), Échos du dub (2012), On Air Live à la Cigale (2012), Entre les lignes (2015), La Rue raisonne (2016), Live à la maison (2021), Rien ne se tait (2021), Danakil occupe le théâtre Fémina (2021), and Dialogue de dub (2023).

A New Chapter in 2024

This fall marks a new chapter for Danakil with the release of their latest album Demain peut-être, which dropped on September 27. The first singles from the album have already made waves, quickly becoming fan favorites, and the band’s upcoming tour dates are selling out fast.

Their seventh studio album seeks to resonate with a broader audience, addressing timely issues relevant to today’s world. Musically, the band continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries of their production efforts within their own Baco Studio in Bordeaux. Always experimenting, Danakil strives for a powerful, analog sound—distinct from modern norms—capturing a natural groove to complement the cutting lyrics delivered by their lead singer, Balik.

Speaking about the album, Balik explains: “The songs reflect life experiences and moments that many of us have gone through or will face. The core message is one of positivity, encouraging us to keep our heads high even in tough times, to learn from failure, and to celebrate the successes we encounter along the way.”
