Maxence Cyrin | A new album and an exclusive playlist for What the France !

French pianist and composer Maxence Cyrin unveiled his ninth album, Passenger, on 15 November. Driven by the artist’s own harmonious sense of melody, the eleven compositions on this album weave together ambient, minimalism and neo-classical music.

He was discovered by the general public in 2010, thanks to the success of his Pixies cover ‘Where is my mind?’, which now has over 250 million listens worldwide and was remixed last year by The Toxic Avenger. Maxence Cyrin launched his recording career in 2006 with the release of Modern Rhapsodies. He then released the album Növo Piano (2010), followed by the E.P Eye of the storm and the albums The Fantasist (2012), Nocturnes (Solo piano) (2015), Növo Piano 2 (2015), Növo Piano Live (2015), Aurora (2020), Melancholy Island (2022) and Springsong (2023). In 2023, he also signed the original soundtrack to Martin Jauvat’s film ‘Grand Paris’, while several of his tracks have been synchronised on TV series (Mr Robot, The Leftlovers, Lycée Toulouse-Lautrec) or adverts (FDJ, Narcisso Rodriguez), and he has also toured the United States, Italy and Germany.

To accompany the release of his new album, Maxence Cyrin has put together an exclusive playlist for What the France! It’s a chance to listen to tracks by the artist, as well as a selection of his favourites ‘made in France’. You’ll be able to listen to works performed by Aurélienne Brauner & Lorèn
