Metronomy | A new album and a world tour

British pop group Metronomy are back with their seventh studio album Small World, released on French label Because Music. And they’re heading out on a world tour!

The song ‘Things Will Be Fine’ is about remaining positive in difficult situations, as a way of getting through or helping our children and those we love, even though we may not be so sure ourselves that everything will work out for the best.

The video is an elegy to nostalgia for adolescence, described by founder, singer and guitarist Joseph Mount as being like a “sort of pseudo role-play therapy session in which we all re-visit our teenage selves. Everyone ended up more scarred than they did before making it… apart from Michael and his f*#king guinea pigs”. (that’s a reference to keyboard player Michael Lovett, who spends his time stroking guinea pigs in the video).

Small World, the new album

Metronomy’s new album Small World is a return to simple pleasures, nature, and an embracing in part of more pared down, songwriterly sonics, all while asking broader existential questions: which feels at least somewhat rooted in the period of time during which it was made – 2020. Through the tumultuous ebb and flow of the years, Metronomy continues to endure, and Joe Mount’s ability as a songwriter, arranger and producer shines through on Small World, evergreen.
