Vanessa Wagner | A first single from the new album
French pianist Vanessa Wagner has announced the release of new album Mirrored on French label InFiné. The track, Philip Glass’s ‘The Poet Acts’, is our first taster.
Just a short while after the release of Study Of The Invisible in March, Vanessa Wagner is already back again with “The Poet Acts”, a piece by Philip Glass from the soundtrack to 2002 film The Hours. In her version, which is on the album Mirrored, Wagner conjures the nested melodies of Glass’ original piece with her masterful touch. The stripped down, solo piano version of this piece which has reached a high level of ubiquity even for a composer like Glass, manages to stand out in thanks to Vanessa’s virtuosic skill and discipline as a pianist.
Vanessa Wagner’s repertoire features solo piano pieces of graceful minimalism and rare elegance, including music by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Nico Muhly, Léo Ferré, Moondog, Camille Pepin and Melaine Dalibert. The new album was recorded at the TAP-Théâtre-Auditorium in Poitiers and is entirely produced in Dolby Atmos. The artwork is an original sculpture by French artist Laurent Pernot The album is released on 25th November 2022.
