Nouvelle Vague | A 20th-anniversary world tour and album!
French cover band Nouvelle Vague will be making their long-awaited return to releasing albums next month, 20 years after the launch of their revolutionary eponymous debut record – an iconic creation that marked the rise of a musical style whose astute fusion of post-punk and a distinctive touch of bossa nova confirmed the group’s “timeless classic” status.
Ever since the early 2000s, Nouvelle Vague haven’t been content just to revisit the classics; instead, they’ve reinvented them. By preserving the melancholic essence of such tracks, the band have injected a spellbinding bossa-nova atmosphere into them while showcasing singers as emblematic as Phoebe Killdeer and Camille, who have each enriched the group’s musical world in unique fashion.
Their most recent project, ‘Only You’, a captivating cover of the Yazoo hit – in collaboration with Mélanie Pain, one of the band’s original singers – now paves the way for the imminent arrival of their eagerly anticipated new album, Should I Stay or Should I Go?, which is due for release on 16th February.
In honour of their 20th anniversary, Nouvelle Vague have an epic world tour lined up for 2024 and 2025. With its first few dates taking place in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, Belgium, France and Portugal, this run of gigs promises to provide some unforgettable shows for the band’s countless fans around the globe.
